since Tuesday, May 26^th 2020, the new KCDC release PENTARUS is available.
With the release PENTARUS we published a second DataShop called ‘COMBINED’ which is a joint analysis of the formerly separated data sets of the KASCADE and GRANDE detector arrays.

Moreover, with the introduction of the second DataShops, we have prepared our software for extensions with other DataShops planned for the future.

Dear users,
just before X-mas we had a severe disk crash in KCDC which would have caused a lot of effort to be repaired. As we were working on the new release MERIDIAN at that time, we thought it would be more reasonable to put all our efforts in this new release.
We are still struggling with performance problems of the MongoDB caused by the much larger amount of data added for the new release MERIDIAN.

Dear KCDC Users,
after several tough developing timeweeks, since Monday, November, 4th, 2013 the first public release of the KCDC webportal is now available.
We are proud to present to you the first full version of KCDC and to announce the first release of KASCADE data to the general public!
You now have the unique possibility to select from more than 150 million events recorded between 25.20.1996 and 19.12.2003 by the KASCADE experiment.
We believe you will find this first data sample useful and wish youa convenient time on the webportal.
With this open beta release out of our way, we will not stop but continue to work on improving the portal based on your experience.
For this we ask your collective help and support!
Please let us know whenever you experience a problem or have an idea on how to make something easier, more userfriendly or if you miss a feature.
So please make good use of the Report a Bug option. You can find it in the main menu on the left hand side. And of course, you are also welcome to send us an email to ikp?kcdc(at)lists.kit.edu.
In addition we also want to let you know what our plans for the near future. As you might be aware, KCDC has a twofold purpose. We want to present the KASCADE data not only to the scientific public but also to a general public. For this purpose we already started to build an education portal for teachers and pupils (menu option "Lehrmaterial").
We plan to provide examples prepared especially for an audience without a strong background in physics. In the future, we aim towards providing material to teachers and pupils which can be used by everyone to sneak a glimpse on scientific work and to understand the KASCADE data.
At the moment, this part is currently only available in German, as we plan to develop it together with local schools and teachers. But, as we progress, we will keep you updated and if you have comments or ideas, don't hesitate to let us know!
